Cash4Clubs grant

We are delighted to announce that Royal Mersey Yacht Club has been awarded a grant from Cash4Clubs to fund the purchase of waterproofs and life-jackets that we can lend to visitors who come to the club for sailing taster sessions. These will be especially useful on our “Push the Boat Out” days, held in May each year.

Push the Boat Out day 2016 will be held on 21 May.

RMYC Regatta 2015

Mersey Mylne

This Saturday sees the club Regatta taking place, in what is promised by the forecast to be a warmer temperature than we have seen of late. The first class race is scheduled to start at 12.45pm.

Sailing Instructions and Entry Form are available below. All competitors and supporters are welcome to book a place at the buffet – the price has been reduced this year to only £6 per person; or order a “boat plate” for £18, sufficient food for three hungry sailors on one platter. Last orders by 10am Friday 5th June please to Sue Blaylock (email or phone 07702 488 013).

We look forward to seeing you, closely fought racing, and swapping race stories in the bar afterwards.

Great RYA ‘Push The Boat Out’ Event

Submitted by John Collingwood

Mylne PTBOWe had a really good day on Sunday May 10th with sailing taster sessions enjoyed by a dozen visitors, with a very pleasing age range from teen to septuagenarian. We gathered in the clubhouse at mid-day and, after a briefing about safety and the sailing arrangements, we ferried the visitors out to the boats on their moorings.

Squib PTBOAfter a brief period of familiarisation with the boats we had a race around the buoys between Rock Ferry and Bromborough. The weather was quite kind to us with moderate winds at first rising to a good stiff breeze by the end of the race.

You can see many more pictures of the sailing via this link.

Etchells PTBOAfter sailing we retired to the clubhouse for tea and cakes and a chat about our experiences. It seemed that everyone had enjoyed themselves and I’m sure we’ll see many of our guests again. There are several more who have discovered us and although they were unable to join us on the day will, I’m sure, want to have a go on another day.

Etchells & Squibs ready for racing!

Liftin2015_1Liftin2015_2Liftin2015_3The Squib & Etchells fleets have been successfully lifted in this Sunday, and are now on moorings ready for the new season’s opening race on 26th April. Many thanks to the lift-in team, and especially to Huw and Dave Gilmour for all their hard work in preparing the moorings and repairing Moonraker after the winter damage. See you Sunday!disco liftin
